For Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery we refer to the ability to restore the services of an IT system if there is a period of forced inactivity of the Server or some of its fundamental components, caused by exceptional natural disasters or as a result of negligent or malicious acts.

Essentially a business continuity plan guarantees in all circumstances a level of service minimum acceptable because it aims to the continuity of service (recovery within hours), at least for the most critical applications.

For Disaster Recovery we refer to those processes, policies and procedures necessary to restore systems, data and infrastructure necessary for the provision of services belonging to the "core business”. The Disaster Recovery goal is the “survival” (restoration of the service within a few days).
